The sea that gives us life: Oceans Day
June 04, 2024

The Mediterranean is there to enjoy it, but also to take care of it and preserve it. Today we want to open our way of giving thanks to the sea together with the CRAM Foundation!

The Mediterranean Sea, which washes the shores of Barcelona, is a priceless natural treasure. Its rich biodiversity, including unique marine species and fragile ecosystems, requires our protection. The sea is not only vital for ecological balance but also supports the local economy, particularly through tourism and fishing.

Protecting the Mediterranean means preserving its beauty and health for future generations. Pollution, climate change, and overfishing are threats that must be urgently addressed. Clean waters and healthy beaches are essential to maintain the quality of life in the region and ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy its wonders.

Moreover, protecting the sea is an act of global responsibility. The Mediterranean is a meeting point of cultures and civilizations, and its conservation is a legacy we must preserve. Adopting sustainable practices, reducing plastic use, and supporting conservation initiatives are crucial steps we can all take.

Our grain of sand: SUMUS X CRAM

The CRAM Foundation (Conservation and Recovery of Marine Animals) tirelessly dedicates itself to the protection and preservation of the Mediterranean Sea ecosystem. Since its inception, CRAM has worked to rescue, rehabilitate, and release endangered marine species, including turtles, seabirds, and cetaceans. Their work not only focuses on recovering injured or sick animals but also on research and environmental education.

CRAM's commitment to the Mediterranean Sea is deep and multifaceted. Their conservation projects include monitoring and studying marine populations, combating marine pollution, and promoting sustainable practices. Through educational and awareness programs, CRAM aims to involve the community and foster greater awareness about the importance of protecting our seas.

At SUMUS, we are very proud to see the work of this organization year after year; preserving a heritage that we love and believe has immeasurable value. Collaborating with them is a pleasure, and it is even more rewarding to know that we are contributing to such a beautiful and necessary cause.
