The Roman aqueduct enables to bridge the existing unevenness of Pineda’s dry river, the ‘riera’, which can carry water from Can Bufí down to the "lacus" in the Roman villa of Can Roig. The length of the section in Can Cua was 29,30m in the past, but today four arches and part of a fifth one still remain to be visited.
Built in the 17th century, this one-arch aqueduct-bridge, has a legend associated to it. And the legend runs thus: “One night, the stream was flowing fiercely and a peasant woman who had to cross it didn’t know how to do so. Then, the devil appeared suddenly before her and promised to build a bridge over the stream and finish it before the rooster’s crow at the break of day, if she gave him her soul in exchange. And the peasant agreed. But when there were just a few stones left to complete the bridge, she inadvertently threw a bucket of water on a poor sleeping rooster. All at once, the rooster began to crow. The devil thought it was already dawn and left the bridge unfinished asudden. Since he couldn’t keep his side of the bargain, the peasant woman needn’t give him her soul and thus could cross the bridge with no worries”.
